Portugal's Praia Da Falesia
65
I have been to Portugal many times over the years and it is the Algarve coastline, that I tend to travel to most. Many people flock to "Olhos De Agua" for their holidays, but it is "Praia Da Falesia" that I am in love with. It is only a few miles away from Albufeira Downtown, and only a stones throw away from Olhos De Agua. What I love about Praia Da Falesia is that it is quiet and peace full, but only a short drive up the coast to the more noisy and touristy towns. Praia Da Falesia has its own restaurants in town, and a couple of quiet bars, but it is a town for locals rather than tourists. The reason I go there is because the beaches are less packed and I like to keep away from the annoying young drunks that usually invest the Portugal and Spanish coastline during the holiday season. The town has its own supermarket and gift shops, and I would recommend that you visit "Cafe FR Pub" Restaurant, run by Paulo Nobrega and his wife. I have eaten in there a few times and the food and service is the best you will ever find. I also recommend that you try his wife's "Home Made Apple Pie", it is amazing. When dining near the Portugal coastline, always try the sea food, the closer you are to any coastline in any country the fresher the fish tastes. Praia Da Falesia is a short drive from "Faro Airport" and has many activity's to do for the whole family. There is a Golf Course not far away, and a horse riding stable too. I would however stick to the buses rather than fork out for a Taxi. Getting a Taxi around Portugal will cost you a fortune, I was charged 40 Euros for a simple 10 minute drive, it really is an expensive way to travel out there. Luckily for me I don't need to leave Praia Da Falesia when I visit, I am quite happy staying in their quiet little town, and walking on the cliffs through out the day which give you amazing sights. If you do fancy a cheap holiday to Portugal, it will cost around £250 per person for a return flight from London to Faro airport, and that would include your accommodation too. Best place to book a package holiday is "Travel Republic", they have never let me down in the past and always come up with some amazing offers. Also "Vilamoura" is close to Faro airport as well and I am told that it's a lovely place also, maybe I will visit Vilamoura next time. Portugal isn't for everyone, but if you would like a quiet relaxing time away, and fancy visiting a place that isn't ridiculously hot, then Portugal is for you. Also it is only a few hours flight from London so there is no long exhausting journey there and back.
