Garfunkel's Restaurant London

By

Garfunkel's Restaurant London

As the five of us walked past Garfunkel's Restaurant on Victoria street, we all decided to stop and look at the menu displayed in window. After about 30 seconds we all then decided that we would go in and try the food as it looked reasonably good. As we all stood in the doorway waiting to get seated, the one member of staff that seemed to be working that day came towards us with a very angry look on his face. "How many" he asked, "Five" I replied and he walked away. I guess we were to follow him, so we did. As he sat us down he then barked the words at us "We are only serving breakfast" and then he walked away.

We all looked at the menu and it said that they didn't serve lunch until 11.30, and it was now 11.15. So we had to decide to either order breakfast now, or wait 15 minutes until the waiter/manager would serve us a lunch. Before we could even decide on what we were going to eat, the waiter had returned and asked us for our order, actually he returned within 2 minutes of giving us the menu and he rushed all of us into ordering when he could very easily see that we needed more time.

Three of us ordered the "Traditional English Breakfast" which consisted of eggs, pork and leek sausage, hash brown, large flat mushroom and half grilled tomatoes. The eggs were not cooked properly and were pretty raw so they didn't get eaten. The sausage was very nice and so was the rest of it, just a shame about the service. Somebody else ordered pancakes and syrup, which they enjoyed and the other person ordered "sausages and eggs" which came with toast but no butter. We did manage to get the butter but the waiter didn't take kindly to us asking for it.

All in all the food was pretty basic and the service was shame full, at least it was only breakfast and not dinner as that would have really spoilt my day, but as breakfast goes it wasn't such a big event so we finished our food the best we could and moved on making a mental note never to eat there again. I understand that the staff can be under pressure, but the main objective of a restaurant is to make sure that the customers are happy and that they enjoy their food. In this case I am saddened to say that Garfunkel's didn't give a dam about either, they treat the customer like an inconvenience the second the customer walks through the door.
